#سودابيديا : تاريخ مدينة كسلا دلت الاستكشافات والبحوث التي أجريت على قطع الفخار وغيرها من الآثار التي عثر عليها في المنطقة على أن المنطقة التي تقوم عليها كسلا الآن كانت على صلة وتبادل تجاري مع مصر والنوبة وبشكل خاص مع مملكة كرمة، وجنوب شبه الجزيرة العربية واكسوم في أوقات متفرقة.
و يرجع ظهور كسلا كمدينة إلى عام 1623م عندما كانت تسودها مشيخة تسمى مشيخة آل شيخ حامد بن نافع، التي كانت تتكون من تجمع قبلي ضم أشراف آل الشيخ حامد، من الهدندوة، والشكرية وبني عامر وغيرهم. كما استوطنتها قبيلة الحلنقة الرعوية التي هاجرت من شبه الجزيرة العربية عبر مضيق باب المندب
ومن ثم بلاد الحبشة فالسودان، لتستقر علي ضفاف نهر القاش بكسلا.

It also settled by the ALhalnqh tribe , that migrated from the Arabian Peninsula through the Strait of Bab el Mandeb and then Abyssinia , Then Sudan, to settle on the banks of the Gash River , in Kassala.
